Accusations Against Former RG Kar Principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh in Kolkata Rape Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh, ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College, on charges of financial misconduct at the institution. Along with Ghosh, his security guard Afsar Ali and two hospital vendors, Biplav Singha and Sumana Hazara, were also taken into custody. Ghosh had been under daily interrogation for over two weeks. The accusations against him include financial irregularities, but his alleged involvement in the larger rape and murder case at the hospital is also under investigation.
CBI Investigates RG Kar Medical College Rape-Murder Case, Polygraph Tests Conducted
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, which occurred on August 9. The CBI inspected various areas of the hospital, including the emergency facility, boys’ dormitories, and the principal’s office. West Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya urged the CBI to build a strong case to ensure the rapist is punished.
Former RG Kar principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh, under investigation, underwent a second polygraph test, while Sanjay Roy, the accused, also faced a polygraph exam. Amid the ongoing investigation, Dr. Ghosh’s membership in the Indian Medical Association (IMA) was revoked. The IMA’s decision followed a review of the case, which has sparked nationwide outrage. The case was transferred to the CBI following a Calcutta High Court order.

Saha claims Hassan threatened him months before the incident over false accusations. Hassan denies the allegations, asserting the clip was AI-generated and has filed a complaint with the CBI. The recording also references Ghosh’s connection to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, suggesting she prevented him from resigning.
