CHHATTISGARH (9) – In a major blow to Maoist rebels, security forces killed 31 insurgents in a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.According to sources, the encounter took place in the border area of Dantewada and Narayanpur districts, where a joint team of security forces had launched an operation based on intelligence inputs. Two security guards were martyred and two others were injured in the operation, which is being hailed as a significant success in the anti-Naxalite campaign. The security forces had received intelligence that around 50 Maoists were hiding in the forest, and had drawn up an ‘Action Plan’ to tackle them. The operation was made possible by coordination between two districts and the use of modern technology, including Knight-Vision drones.Bastar’s Inspector General (IG) P Sundarraj asserted that the Maoists were preparing for a major attack from the cache of modern weapons found in their possession. The forest, located between two districts, was considered an impenetrable stronghold of the Maoists. However, the security forces were able to successfully execute the operation due to meticulous planning and coordination. The conflict between the Maoists and the Indian security forces has been ongoing for decades, with the Maoists hiding in the thick forests of Chhattisgarh. The Maoists, influenced by the communist ideology of Chinese leader Mao Zedong, claim to be fighting against exploitation by mining companies and the government.According to the Maoists, the mining companies and the government are exploiting the rights of tribals and farm laborers, and exploiting water, forest, and land resources. Maoists protest this exploitation. This operation is considered a crucial step in the anti-Naxalite campaign, demonstrating the bravery and resilience of Indian soldiers. The search operation is ongoing, and the number of deceased Maoists may rise. The Indian soldiers have once again proved their courage, bravery, and resilience in the face of adversity. However, the martyrdom of two security guards and the injury of two others is a sobering reminder of the sacrifices made by the security forces in their fight against terrorism.
