KIIT NEPALI STUDENT SUICIDE CASE : BOYFRIEND ADVIK SRIVASTAVA REMANDED BY POLICE FOR THREE DAYS

Odisha (21) – Responsible for the suicide of Prakriti Lamsal (20), a Nepali student studying third year of B.Tech at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Advik Srivastava, a student studying in the same institute, has been taken on three-day remand by the Infocity police with the permission of the court. Prakriti’s cousin Siddhant Sikdel, who studies in the same university, filed a complaint against Advik. In this complaint, he mentioned that he tortured Prakriti Lamsal. They aim to gather insights into Advik and Prakriti’s relationship and the possible reasons behind Prakriti’s suicide. The Odisha government has also appointed a committee of inquiry into the death of Prakriti Lamsala. This high level committee will conduct a voice spectography of Advik. Because a video clip had gone viral on social media. In which there is an argument between a boy and a girl and the boy is abusing the girl. La’s behavior makes the girl collapse. The boy and girl in this video were referred to as Prakriti and Advik. A voice spectography test can identify if the voice in this video clip is that of Advik. The three-member committee comprises Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Higher Education Department. The committee has recently visited the university and discussed with many concerned persons. Speaking to the media, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Satyabrat Sahu said that he has come to the university as a member of the committee appointed by the government. He has visited the places related to the incident and has questioned the related persons. He assured to submit the report to the government. The body was handed over to the girl’s parents. The incident has reverberated throughout the state and the issue was also discussed in the Legislative Assembly.
