Tata Motors, a leading vehicle manufacturer selling private vehicles as well as commercial vehicles in the Indian market, offers vehicles with many technologies. The company has started the trial of a truck running on hydrogen technology on 04 March 2025. What kind of special features have been given in these trucks? What statement did Union Minister Nitin Gadkari give on this occasion? Tata Motors has informed that these trucks with new technology will be trialed for two years. During this period, these trucks will be driven in different parts of the country. A total of 16 trucks will be driven by the company in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Surat, Vadodara, Jamshedpur, and Kalinganagar. These will include trucks of different capacities and payloads. Only after this will a decision be taken regarding their launch.Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said on this occasion that hydrogen is the fuel of the future, which has immense potential to transform India’s transport sector by reducing emissions and increasing energy self-reliance. Initiatives like these will accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility in heavy-haul trucking and move us closer to an efficient, low-carbon future.Along with Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi was also present on this occasion. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said that hydrogen is an important fuel for India to move towards a sustainable and zero-carbon future.Talking on this topic, Rajiv Malhotra, an employee at Tata Motors, said, “The launch of this trial is an important step towards demonstrating the potential of green hydrogen in decarbonizing India’s transport sector. This initiative, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, reflects our commitment to foster innovation and achieve India’s energy independence while contributing to global climate goals. Tata will bring these trucks with technology like Hydrogen ICE and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric. Once the tank is filled with hydrogen, they can be driven for 300 to 500 km.”
