Ekta Kapoor and Mother Shobha Embroiled in Legal Controversy

Ekta Kapoor is a renowned Indian television producer, film producer and director who has made a significant impact in Hindi cinema and soap operas. Born in 1975 to Bollywood superstar Jeetendra and his wife Shobha Kapoor, Ekta started her career at 17, interning with filmmaker Kailash Surendranath.

She is the joint managing director and creative head of Balaji Telefilms Limited, founded in 1994, and has produced over 130 Indian soap operas.

Ekta has received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri in 2020 for her work in the field of arts, and the 2023 International Emmy Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards.

Renowned producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, face legal trouble after a case was filed against them under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The complaint alleges that season 6 of ALT Balaji’s web series “Gandii Baat” featured inappropriate scenes involving minor girls.

The Mumbai Police registered the case at the MHB police station under sections 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology (IT) Act and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act. The controversial episode originally streamed on ALT Balaji between February and April 2021 but has since been removed.

Ekta Kapoor’s Previous Controversies

In 2022, a local court in Bihar’s Begusarai issued arrest warrants for Ekta Kapoor and her mother due to objectionable scenes in the web series “XXX Season 2.” However, Ekta’s lawyer dismissed the claims as untrue.

Despite the controversy, Ekta Kapoor’s latest drama film, “Love, Sex aur Dhokha 2” (LSD 2), directed by Dibakar Banerjee, released in theaters on April 19. The film explores the stark reality of our digitally obsessed society.

The allegations against Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have sparked concern. As the investigation unfolds, fans await the truth, hoping for a resolution that upholds justice and protects creative freedom.
