Tragically, a huge fire that started late last night at Lotus Grandeur Banquet Hall killed an
electrician and left the structure completely destroyed. When the fire started, the banquet
hall in Sector-74 in Noida was being renovated. Authorities believe the fire may have been
caused by a short circuit, which was probably made worse by the gas cylinders in the
kitchen of the hall.
Incident and Response
According to the Noida Police, the fire started at around 3:30 in the morning. According to
Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ram Badan Singh, 15 fire trucks were sent to
the scene after receiving the warning and arrived in 15 minutes. Firefighters fought the fire,
but the banquet hall’s ornate woodwork made things more difficult because some parts of it
remained smouldering after the fire was put out.
“The building, made primarily of wood, posed a significant risk for spread. While our teams
are trying to cool down hotspots, rescue efforts are underway,” said DCP Singh.
Electrician Trapped Inside
Parminder, an electrician doing the renovations, was apparently sleeping on the first floor
when the fire broke out and was unable to get out. “He was trapped and unfortunately died in
the fire,” Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar stated. Rescue crews put out the fires on the top
floors and then recovered his body. Plans are in place to provide support to Parminder’s
family, who have been notified.
Potential Reasons for the Fire
Although the precise cause of the incident has not yet been established, initial investigations
indicate that a short circuit may have been the initial cause. The notion that gas cylinders
kept in the banquet hall’s kitchen may have contributed to the fire’s quick spread is also
being investigated by experts. To ascertain the precise sequence of events leading up to the
catastrophe, authorities have started an investigation.
Significant Damage
The damage was significant by the time the fire was contained. The banquet hall, which was
renowned for its interior wood panels, is now scorched, with the majority of the building
reduced to ashes. There’s almost nothing left. Chief Fire Officer Kumar also stated, “The
banquet hall has been destroyed.” This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of how crucial safety procedures are,
particularly in buildings that are being renovated. All building managers and contractors have
been asked by the Noida Fire Department to strictly follow safety regulations, especially
when renovations entail the use of combustible materials and heavy electrical equipment.
Statement of Authorities and Follow-Up
DCP Singh said that a thorough inquiry is being conducted and offered his sympathies to the
victim’s family. He also emphasised that in order to avoid similar tragedies, preventive
measures should be a top priority in all business premises, especially those undergoing
restoration.
The goal of the authorities’ ongoing investigation into the events leading up to the fire is to
identify any potential safety violations that might have played a role in this unfortunate result.
Contractors and management teams of other banquet halls and commercial establishments
have also been urged by the district administration to review their emergency plans and
safety procedures.
This incident emphasises the possible hazards of electric short circuits and gas cylinder
storage, as well as the vital significance of strict fire safety protocols in remodelling projects.
