The first budget of the BJP government of Delhi was presented on Tuesday. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore with an unprecedented increase in the budget. The party is calling it a historic budget.BJP leaders say that strong steps have been taken in the budget to fulfil the major promises made by the party in the election manifesto. This will accelerate the pace of development in Delhi as well as improve the living standards of the people.At the same time, the opposition is raising questions on the provisions of the budget. BJP workers will now take the lead to stop the opposition’s propaganda. BJP leaders say that the opposition will not be given a chance to spread propaganda. For this, the workers will increase their activism among the public. They will inform them about the announcements made in the budget.It will be said that along with implementing the public welfare policies of the previous government more effectively, steps have been taken for women’s empowerment and the welfare of the poor class. A plan is also being made to organise programmes in every district regarding the budget. A decision will be taken in this regard in the next few days.Emphasising smart infrastructure and smooth movement, the Chief Minister said that this will now be the identity of Delhi. Delhi is now entering a new era of traffic-free motorways, elevated corridors and smart surveillance systems. An amount of Rs 3843 crore has been allocated for improving roads and flyovers.The government will bring a new industrial policy to Delhi, which will make it easier to do business in Delhi. Doing business will be made easier through a single-window system. For this, a new industrial policy and a new warehouse policy will be introduced. A trader welfare board will also be set up. Apart from this, a global investment summit will be organised for the first time in Delhi.Special emphasis has been laid on the cleaning and revival of the Yamuna River, inspired by the Sabarmati River Front project. The government proposed to allocate Rs 500 crore for cleaning the Yamuna, which will ensure that only treated water goes into the Yamuna through the decentralisation of 40 sewerage treatment plants (STPs). Apart from this, provision of Rs 500 crore for repair of STP and Rs 250 crore for replacing old sewer lines.Special attention was also given to clean drinking water and sanitation, and it is proposed to allocate Rs 9,000 crore for related projects. Special attention has been given to women in the budget. Poor women of Delhi will be given an amount of Rs 2500 per month. For this, the government has made a provision of Rs 5100 crore in the budget.People of Delhi will now get an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh for Ayushman Bharat. Along with the cover of Rs 5 lakh from the Centre, people of Delhi will get additional insurance of Rs 5 lakh. A provision of Rs 2144 crore has been made for this. Special attention was also given to clean drinking water and sanitation, and it is proposed to allocate Rs 9,000 crore for related projects.Talking on this topic, Manav Jain, a renowned CA, said, The Delhi government’s Rs 1 lakh crore budget is significant from the financial point of view, especially looking at the allocations made in the areas of infrastructure improvement, ease of doing business and social welfare. However, transparency, monitoring and financial discipline will be needed to effectively implement a big budget. Special attention has been given to water, sanitation, and women’s welfare in the budget, but it will be very important to implement these schemes properly and ensure proper use of financial resources.”
