In a shocking incident, a self-styled Godman, identified as Ghulam Rasool, aka ‘Las Babb’, is accused of brutally attacking an elderly woman in North Kashmir’s Chogal Village on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as Atiqa Begum (60), wife of Late Abdul Rehman Lone, reportedly visited the Godman when she was allegedly assaulted multiple times on her head.
The incident unfolded when Atiqa Begum sought spiritual guidance from Ghulam Rasool. However, instead of offering solace, she met a tragic fate as she was purportedly struck by the Godman, leading to severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to GMC Handwara for immediate medical attention, her condition deteriorated rapidly. Subsequently, she was referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced treatment. Tragically, Atiqa Begum succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.
According to sources within the police department, Ghulam Rasool, the self-proclaimed Godman, has been apprehended and is currently in police custody at the nearest police station. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the heinous act.
