Ragging Details
The incident occurred on November 6th when a group demanded money from an 18-year-old victim for liquor. Upon refusal, he was forcibly taken to another room, tortured, stripped naked, and had his head shaved. The ordeal was recorded to prevent the victim from reporting.
Legal Consequences
The victim’s parents filed a complaint on November 7, leading to charges under Tamil Nadu Ragging Prohibition Act 1997 and the Indian Penal Code. Sections include penalty for ragging, causing hurt, wrongful confinement, unlawful assembly, assault, and criminal intimidation.
College Response
PSG Student Union announced the suspension of the involved students on Instagram, instructing them to vacate the hostel immediately. True To Life is awaiting a response from the college principal.
