Maharashtra politics has become bitter over the comments of comedian Kunal Kamra. A large number of Shiv Sena workers reached the Unicontinental Club and vandalised it. Allegedly, Kunal Kamra made objectionable remarks against Eknath Shinde in this club.After the video went viral, Shinde faction leader Rahul Kanal lodged a complaint against Kamra at Khar Police Station in Mumbai. The complaint alleges that Kamra recently made derogatory remarks against Deputy CM Eknath Shinde in a live show held at the Unicontinental Club in Khar West.Mumbai Police on Monday registered an FIR against comedian Kunal Kamra. An official gave this information. Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel has lodged a complaint with the police. An official of MIDC police station said that based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against Kamra under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in the early hours of Monday. A case has been registered against him under 353 (1) (B) and 356 (2) (defamation). According to the official, in the nearly 2-minute video, Kamra also mocked the ruling NCP and Shiv Sena. The matter is being investigated.Meanwhile, an FIR was filed against Shiv Sena Yuva Sena (Shinde faction) general secretary Rahul Kanal and 19 others for vandalising the Habitat stand-up comedy set yesterday. The case has been registered under various sections of the BNS and Maharashtra Police Act.Police said that Shiv Sena workers vandalised Hotel Unicontinental in the Khar area of Mumbai, where Kamra allegedly mocked Eknath Shinde by calling him a ‘traitor’ in a show. Kamra’s show was held at Habitat. This is the same place where the controversial ‘India’s Got Talent’ show was filmed.Kunal Kamra mocked Deputy CM Shinde with the help of a modified song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ during his show. Kamra also shared the video clip on social networking platform X. Actually, Kamra was hinting at the rebellion made by Eknath Shinde in 2022.Shiv Sena MP from Thane, Naresh Mhaske, says that Kamra is a contracted comedian. But he should not have stepped on the tail of the snake. Once the fangs come out, there are dire consequences. Mhaske alleged that Kunal Kamra has taken money from Uddhav Thackeray and is targeting Eknath Shinde. He said that we will ensure that he cannot roam freely across the country.Mhaske said that we are Shiv Sainiks of late Balasaheb Thackeray. Kunal Kamra’s comment against Eknath Shinde raises the question of whether someone’s personal dignity can be violated in the name of humour or not.According to the lawyer, this is a case of defamation, and if a person is insulted publicly, he is entitled to legal action. However, the judiciary will also have to see in this case that a balance is maintained between humour and freedom of expression. The Constitution gives us freedom of expression, but it cannot be more important than the dignity and respect of others.”
